{"id":30277,"date":"2017-09-12T20:44:00","date_gmt":"2017-09-12T20:44:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2021-07-04T13:58:29","modified_gmt":"2021-07-04T13:58:29","slug":"catholic-orthodox-bilateral-dialogue-on","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fosfanariou.gr\/index.php\/2017\/09\/12\/catholic-orthodox-bilateral-dialogue-on\/","title":{"rendered":"Catholic-Orthodox Bilateral Dialogue on the Way to its Next Plenary"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" trbidi=\"on\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"576\" data-original-width=\"768\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/fosfanariou.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SYNEDRIO917-60.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<b><span style=\"color: #990000;\">The Coordinating Committee of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church met in Leros <\/span><\/b>(Greece) on 5-8 September 2017, under the presidency of the two co-chairmen, Cardinal Kurth Koch (President of the Pontifical Council for the promotion of the unity of Christians) and Archbishop Job of Telmessos (Ecumenical Patriarchate), benefiting from the hospitality of Metropolitan Paisios of Leros, Kalymnos and Astypalaia (Ecumenical Patriarchate), to discuss the next stage of the dialogue following the agreed statement \u201c<b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecupatria.org\/synodality-and-primacy-during-the-first-millennium-towards-a-common-understanding-in-service-to-the-unity-of-the-church\/\">Synodality and Primacy during the First Millennium: Towards a Common Understanding in Service to the Unity of the Church,<\/a><\/b>\u201d finalized on 21 September 2016 at the plenary meeting of the Commission in Chieti (Italy).&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nAfter much discussion, it was decided that the topic for <b><span style=\"color: #990000;\">the next stage of the dialogue should be: \u201cTowards Unity in Faith: Theological and Canonical Issues\u201d. <\/span><\/b>A paper on this topic will be prepared for the next plenary meeting of the Commission which is expected in 2019. It was also decided that work should begin already on an additional document, which will follow on from the Chieti document and will be entitled: \u201cPrimacy and Synodality in the Second Millennium and Today\u201d.
