ΤΟ CEMES ΣΥΝΕΧΙΖΕΙ ΝΑ ΗΓΕΙΤΑΙ ΔΙΕΘΝΩΝ ΠΡΟΣΠΑΘΕΙΩΝ ΓΙΑ ΤΗΝ ΕΙΡΗΝΙΚΗ ΣΥΝΥΠΑΡΞΗ ΚΑΙ ΚΑΤΑΝΟΗΣΗ ΜΕΤΑΞΥ ΤΩΝ ΛΑΩΝ»
Το Κέντρο Οικουμενικών, Ιεραποστολικών και Περιβαλλοντικών Μελετών «Μητροπολίτης Παντελεήμων Παπαγεωργίου (CEMES) συνεχίζει να διαδραματίζει πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο στην προώθηση της ειρηνικής και αρμονικής συνύπαρξης των λαών και στην προστασία των θρησκευτικών χώρων λατρείας.
Σε συνέχεια του επιτυχημένου ευρωπαϊκού προγράμματος PROSECUW (Protection and Security for Places of Worship, 2021), το CEMES συμμετέχει πλέον σε μια νέα ευρωπαϊκή πρωτοβουλία, το πρόγραμμα VIRTUOUS (Vulnerability, Risk Assessment Tools and Training Exercises for the Active Protection of Religious Buildings). Το VIRTUOUS στοχεύει στην ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας μεταξύ θρησκευτικών κοινοτήτων, κρατικών φορέων και ερευνητικών ιδρυμάτων, εισάγοντας καινοτόμες τεχνολογικές προσεγγίσεις για την πρόληψη, την ετοιμότητα και την ανθεκτικότητα των χώρων λατρείας. Μεταξύ αυτών, η χρήση του Building Information Modeling (BIM) προσφέρει ένα πρωτοποριακό ψηφιακό εργαλείο για την πρόληψη κινδύνων και την ενίσχυση της ασφάλειας.
Η ομιλία του Προέδρου του CEMES, Δρ. Νικολάου Φ. Δημητριάδη, πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Εβραϊκό Μουσείο Θεσσαλονίκης, αναδεικνύοντας τη διαθρησκειακή διάσταση του έργου του Κέντρου και τη συνεχή δέσμευσή του στην ενίσχυση του διαλόγου, της εμπιστοσύνης και της συνεργασίας μεταξύ των θρησκειών. Η ομιλία είχε τίτλο: «Προστασία Θρησκευτικών Χώρων Λατρείας: Ενίσχυση της Ανθεκτικότητας και Προαγωγή της Ειρήνης» η οποία αντικατοπτρίζει τη διαρκή αποστολή του CEMES να συνδυάζει τη θεολογική σκέψη με την κοινωνική ευθύνη και να προάγει μια κουλτούρα σεβασμού και ειρηνικής συνύπαρξης πέρα από θρησκευτικά και πολιτισμικά σύνορα.

The Center of Ecumenical, Missiological and Environmental Studies (CEMES) continues to play a leading role in advancing peaceful and harmonious coexistence among peoples and in safeguarding places of worship across Europe. Following the success of the PROSECUW (Protection and Security for Places of Worship) project,(2021) CEMES now participates in a new European initiative, the VIRTUOUS Project (Vulnerability, Risk Assessment Tools and Training Exercises for the Active Protection of Religious Buildings).
VIRTUOUS aims to strengthen cooperation between religious communities, public authorities, and research institutions, introducing innovative technological approaches for the protection, preparedness, and resilience of religious sites. Among these, Building Information Modeling (BIM) serves as a pioneering digital tool for risk prevention and active protection.
The President of CEMES, Dr. Nikolaos F. Dimitriadis, delivered a keynote speech at the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki, underlining the interfaith dimension of the Center’s work and its ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue, trust, and cooperation among different faith traditions. The address, titled “Safeguarding Places of Worship: Building Resilience and Fostering Peace,” reflected CEMES’s enduring mission to unite theological reflection with social responsibility and to promote a culture of mutual respect and peacebuilding across religious and cultural boundaries.
