Ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος, που σαν Προϊστάμενος της Κοινότητας Μόντρεαλ πρωτοστάτησε και αγοράστηκε το 1968, ο Ι.Ναός Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου, που με τα χρόνια εξελίχτηκε σε Ιερό Προσκύνημα, προεξήρχε της Ιεράς Λιτανείας περιστοιχούμενος από τον ιερατικώς προϊστάμενο Ν. Παπαγεωργίου, και τους ιερείς της πόλεως, τη Γενική Πρόξενο Κατερίνα Βαρβαρίγου, η οποία προήχθη σε Πρέσβειρα της Ελλάδας στη Σαουδική Αραβία, τον Πρόεδρο της Κοινότητας Β. Αγγελόπουλο, τους πρώην προέδρους της Κοινότητας Ν. Παγώνη και A. Κριλή, τη Δημοτική Σύμβουλο Μ. Ντέρου και χιλιάδες ευλαβών προσκυνητών.
Η θαυματουργική εικόνα της Κοίμησης, εβαστάζετο από ευσταλείς νέους με εθνικές ενδυμασίες.
Χιλιάδες λαού την ακολούθησαν και όταν επέστρεψαν προ του Ιερού Ναού ομίλησε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος μεταφέροντας την αγάπη, τις ευχές και τις προσευχές του Οικουμενικού μας Πατριάρχη κ.κ. Βαρθολομαίου, με λόγια εγκωμιαστικά για την Παναγία μας και παρηγορητικά για τον λαό. Ευχαρίστησε τους πάντες.

PROCESSION AT THE DORMITION, MONTREAL
Archbishop Sotirios, who as the Presiding Priest of the Montreal Community led the effort through which the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos was purchased in 1968, and which over the years has become a Holy Pilgrimage, presided at the Sacred Procession for the Great Feast of the Dormition. He was surrounded by the Presiding Priest N. Papageorgiou, the clergy of the city, Consul General Katerina Varvarigou (who has since been promoted as Ambassador of Greece to Saudi Arabia), the President of the Community V. Angelopoulos, the former Presidents of the Community Archon N. Pagonis and A. Crilis, City Councillor M. Deros, and thousands of devout pilgrims.
The miraculous icon of the Dormition was carried by noble young men dressed in traditional Greek outfits.
Thousands of faithful followed it, and when they returned in front of the Holy Church, the Archbishop spoke, conveying the love, blessings, and prayers of our Ecumenical Patriarch, His All-Holiness Bartholomew, with words of praise for our Most Holy Theotokos and words of comfort for the people. He expressed his gratitude to all.
