Ο Σεβ. Μητροπολίτης Σουηδίας και πάσης Σκανδιναυΐας κ. Κλεόπας προέστη χθες, Μ. Τετάρτη (1-5-2024), της Ακολουθίας του Ιερού Ευχελαίου που τελέστηκε στον Καθεδρικό Ναό Αγίου Γεωργίου Στοκχόλμης.
Τα επτά Αποστολικά αναγνώσματα διάβασαν μέλη της Ορθόδοξης νεολαίας της Μητροπόλεως.
Την Κυριακή των Βαΐων, 28η Απριλίου 2024, ο Σεβασμ. Μητροπολίτης Σουηδίας και πάσης Σκανδιναυΐας κ. Κλεόπας προεξήρχε της Θείας Λειτουργίας στον Καθεδρικό Ναό Αγίου Γεωργίου Στοκχόλμης, συμπαραστατούμενος από τους Πανοσιολ. Αρχιμανδρίτες κ.κ. Σωσίπατρο Στεφανούδη και Βαρθολομαίο Ιατρίδη, κατά την διάρκεια της οποίας ετέλεσε την εις Πρεσβύτερον χειροτονία του Διακόνου κ. Γεωργίου Αρβανιτίδη.
Ο υποψήφιος προς χειροτονία, αφού δοξολόγησε τον Τριαδικό Θεό, ευχαρίστησε τον Ποιμενάρχη του κ. Κλεόπα για την πατρική αγάπη, την συμπαράσταση και το ενδιαφέρον του για τον ίδιο και την οικογένειά του, θεώρησε δε ιδιαίτερη τιμή και ευλογία την προχείρισή του στην τάξη των Πρεσβυτέρων την πανεπίσημη αυτή ημέρα της εισόδου του Κυρίου μας στην Αγία Πόλη, που σήμανε και την δική του είσοδο στα Άγια των Αγίων.
Συγκινημένος ο Επίσκοπος, αντιφώνησε, αναφερόμενος αρχικώς στην σημασία της ημέρας για την ζωή της Εκκλησίας και των πιστών και στην συνέχεια ανεφέρθη, με πατρικούς λόγους και παραινέσεις, προς τον π, Γεώργιο, επισημάνας μεταξύ άλλων ότι: «Πέρασαν 9 χρόνια από την εις Διάκονον χειροτονία σου. Ώριμος πλέον, οικογενειάρχης, πατέρας τριών παιδιών και καθηγητής στην εκπαίδευση, φτάνεις σήμερα στην ευλογημένη αυτή μέρα. Το Πανάγιο Πνεύμα θα κατέλθει ως πνοή βιαία και θα σε αναβιβάσει στο ύψος του Πρεσβυτέρου και θα είσαι «πεπληρωμένος Θείας Χάριτος».
Θα αναλάβεις ως πνευματικός κυβερνήτης του πλοίου που θα σου αναθέσει ο Επίσκοπός σου και θα καταστείς ποιμένας λογικών προβάτων. Φρόντισε, να αναδειχθείς όντως καλός ποιμήν, που θα αναζητάς και θα θεραπεύεις τα απολωλότα πρόβατα, με την υποδειγματική ζωή σου, τον ζήλο σου και την προσευχή σου.
Τα έργα της αγάπης σου και της αφοσιωμένης ιερατικής σου διακονίας θα σε φανερώσουν στους ανθρώπους ποιμένα αληθινό. Φρόντισε η προσωπικότητά σου ολόκληρη, να είναι επιστολή Χριστού αναγιγνωσκομένη από όλους τους ανθρώπους, «ἐγγεγραμμένη οὐ μέλανι, ἀλλά Πνεύματι Θεοῦ ζῶντος» (Β΄ Κορ., γ΄ 2-3).
Σε μια εποχή που εψύγη η αγάπη των πολλών, σ’ ένα κόσμο που κυβερνά το συμφέρον, που ο εγωισμός και η αμαρτία απορροφά την δροσιά της ψυχής, μόνον η αναθέρμανση της γνήσιας αγάπης μπορεί να συγκινήσει τον άνθρωπο και να δροσίσει τις ψυχές που φλέγονται και αναζητούν ένα καλύτερο αύριο.
Σήμερα που η Εκκλησία λέει το Ναι και ο λαός του Θεού θα φωνάξει το «Άξιος» και το «Αμήν» στην επενέργεια του Αγίου Πνεύματος, φρόντισε να παραμείνεις ο απλός και ταπεινός κληρικός, που θα εξακολουθεί να τρέφεται πνευματικά με την Θεία Λειτουργία και τις ακολουθίες της Εκκλησίας και να φωτίζει τους γύρω του.
Έχοντας τις ευχές και την αγάπη του Επισκόπου σου, των συλλειτουργών Ιερέων, του φιλοχρίστου λαού, των γονέων, της συζύγου, των παιδιών και των συγγενών σου, γεμάτος από την Θεία Χάρη, μην διστάζεις, να κηρύσσεις την Βασιλεία του Θεού ως πορεία προς την θέωση, την λύτρωση και την σωτηρία».
Ακολούθως, ετελέσθη η χειροτονία και εν Εκκλησία πληθούση ακούστηκε η ιαχή του «Άξιος» για ο νέο Πρεσβύτερο της ιεραποστολικής Μητροπόλεως Σουηδίας, στο δυναμικό της οποίας προσετέθη ένα ακόμη άξιο στέλεχος.
Τους ύμνους έψαλε η Βυζαντινή χορωδία του ναού.
Ακολούθησε δεξίωση σε εστιατόριο της περιοχής, την οποία προσέφερε η οικογένεια του νεοχειροτονηθέντος κληρικού.
On Palm Sunday, April 28, 2024, His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia presided over the Divine Liturgy at the St. George Cathedral of Stockholm, assisted by the V. Rev. Archimandrites Sosipatros Stefanoudis and Bartholomew Iatridis, during which he performed the ordination of the Rev. Deacon George Arvanitidis to the Priesthood.
The candidate for ordination, after glorifying the Triune God, thanked Metropolitan Cleopas for the paternal love, support and care he showed for him and his family, and he considered it a special honor and blessing to be ordaned as a Presbyter on this solemn day of our Lord’s entry into the Holy City, which also marked his own entry into the Holy of Holies.
Moved, the Bishop responded, initially referring to the importance of the day for the life of the Church and the faithful and then addresed, with paternal words and remarks, to Father George, pointing out that: ” During the Palm Sunday joy, the All-Holy Spirit, which conducts the sacraments, has deemed us worthy to celebrate today your ordination to the Priesthood.
I am certain that at this very moment of your ordination, you will feel the tongues of fire that appeared on the day of Pentecost descending onto your heart and soul. You will feel the breath of the Holy Spirit, calling you to serve, sing praises, and glorify God.
Soon, we will call upon the Holy Martyrs and we will glorify Christ, the head of this celebration, the exultation of the Apostles and Martyrs, the reason for triumph and victory crowns. We will proclaim the consubstantiality of the Holy Trinity. You will walk around the Holy Altar three times, led by your brother priests.
All of us who serve the Church, we minister to the people and celebrate the sacrament of their healing, salvation, and union with Christ. Your work is to bring the problems and needs of the people into the midst of the Church and strengthen them. Do not forget that the Lord’s prayer begins with the words “Our Father,” and not “My Father.”
A Christian life is genuine when we love the cross more than we love our comforts, when we love the struggle more than the victory, when we experience the Kingdom of God as more real than the events of history, when our faith is stronger than our rationality, when we discern the truth more through the Sacraments than the things we can rationally comprehend, when we are more prayerful and less pensive during difficulties, when we ascertain that grace is more effective than the strength of our individual struggle, and when our brethren are closer to us than our very selves.
Place the love of God and not the views of the people as your life’s criterion and guide, and do not heed the pettiness of hypocrites or the excessive fanaticism of those who twist the faith.
I hope that you shall always walk on the path of the resurrection, on your personal and familial journey to Emmaus. Stand before the Holy Altar and experience the reality that the Lord is present on the Holy Diskarion and that His Most Precious Blood is inside the Holy Chalice, so that you may undergo transformation through divine Grace.

ing you to minister to Him, and to your brother clergymen, who serve in our parishes with devotion, here at the far ends of Europe, and they shall support you, together with our faithful people.
We all pray that the feeling of joy inside you today will grow day by the day and blossom into a lifetime of responsibility, voluntary self-sacrifice in the Risen Christ.”
The hymns were chanted by the Cathedral Byzantine choir.
A reception followed at a local restaurant, hosted by the family of the newly ordained clergyman.
